Amy Watts receives Norman Knight Award

Amy Watts, OD, received the 2016 Norman Knight Leadership Development Award in Ophthalmology. This award provides important financial support for promising young physicians.

Expanded Mass. Eye and Ear’s Optometry and Contact Lens Service

The service has more than tripled in size under her leadership. It includes nine optometrists across the main campus and Longwood, Stoneham, and Waltham outpatient offices. It has expanded to include comprehensive eye examinations.

Helped to Develop and Directs Harvard Ophthalmology’s Optometry Residency Training Program
This program is now in its sixth year.

Established and Directs Same-day Service
Dr. Watts developed this service to triage patients with urgent eye problems referred by primary care physicians across partners. It includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Mass. Eye and Ear

Directs Vision Rehabilitation Service at Mass. Eye and Ear
She oversees optometrists and occupational therapists who help vision-impaired patients regain their mobility and independence.

Service leader
She has played a pivotal role in coordinating many of our community vision screenings. She is an active member of several key process improvement efforts, including the Clinical Operation Group and the Practice Advisory Committee.
