Genome-wide association analysis identifies TXNRD2, ATXN2 and FOXC1 as susceptibility loci for primary open-angle glaucoma

Janey Wiggs, MD, PhD, is the lead author on the article, “Genome-wide association analysis identifies TXNRD2, ATXN2 and FOXC1 as susceptibility loci for primary open-angle glaucoma” published online in Nature Genetics on January 11, 2016. Dr. Wiggs and colleagues at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine identified three genes that contribute to primary open-angle glaucoma. According to the National Eye Institute Director, Paul A. Sieving, MD, PhD, “this unprecedented analysis provides the most comprehensive genetic profile of glaucoma to date.”
