 Dr. Lisa Tom received her AB *magna cum laude* Phi Beta Kappa in Anthropology from Princeton University in 2011. A talented scholar and writer, she was awarded the Princeton Gregory T. Pope 1st Prize for Science Writing, the Martin Dale Fellowship to write fiction for a year, and others. Dr. Tom subsequently earned her MD from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in 2016 as recipient of the Edward Raffensperger Twenty-First Century full-tuition merit scholarship. Actively involved in global health and mentorship programs, she was lead clinic coordinator at Puentes de Salud, a free clinic for Spanish-speakers, where she implemented a new nurse triage system. Among her research contributions, Dr. Tom has studied detection of ocular rosaceawith polarized photography, and published a first-author paper on bronchial artery embolization outcomes that was awarded Penn’s medical student Pulmonary Research Prize. She is interested in a career in academic global ophthalmology.
