Karen Wai, MD, and Sila Bal, MD, MPH, Named NEOS Poster Contest Winners

Karen Wai, MD, and Sila Bal, MD, MPH, both PGY-4 ophthalmology residents, placed first and second, respectively, in the New England Ophthalmological Society (NEOS) annual Hecht poster contest for residents and fellows. Dr. Wai was awarded first prize for her poster, "Contrast sensitivity function in patients with macular disease and good visual acuity," and the second prize went to Dr. Bal for her poster, "Differences in cataract surgery outcomes by race and gender.”

Yohei Tomita, MD, PhD, Recognized by Japanese Ophthalmological Society

Yohei Tomita, MD, PhD, a research fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital, is a recipient of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society’s Young Investigator Award. This award will support Dr. Tomita's research project “Petinal pathological neovascularization by Increasing FGF21 level in an aurine oxygen-induced retinopathy model,” which is part of his work with Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
