 

#  Faculty to Receive American Academy of Optometry Awards

Two Harvard Ophthalmology will be recognized at next month's American Academy of Optometry Annual Meeting for their contributions to the field and dedication to clinical and research excellence.

## Alex Bowers, PhD, to Receive the 2025 Feinbloom Award

Alex Bowers, PhD, will receive this award for her distinguished and significant contribution to clinical excellence and the direct clinical advancement of visual and optometric care. A leading researcher in vision rehabilitation, Dr. Bowers has advanced our understanding of the functional abilities and safety considerations for drivers with low vision and has directly influenced evidence-based policy and clinical recommendations in this area. She has also designed several clinical trials on peripheral prism glasses for patients with hemianopia, establishing their value as mobility aids. In addition, Dr. Bowers serves as Co-Director of the Harvard Ophthalmology Research Scholars Program.

## Gang Luo, PhD, to Receive the 2025 Glenn A. Fry Lecture Award

Gang Luo, PhD, will be honored with this award for his distinguished contributions to vision research. Dr. Luo's research focuses on developing and evaluating assistive technology for individuals with visual impairments. In particular, he has developed and validated innovative technologies to enhance real-world driving assessments, portable magnification, collision avoidance, and precise micro-navigation for individuals with visual impairments.
