#  Harvard Ophthalmology Well-Represented at FLORetina-ICOOR 2025

Six faculty members and nine trainees participated in FLORetina-ICOOR and the World Retinopathy of Prematurity Congress, held December 4-7 in Florence, Italy.

Faculty presenters included Demetrios Vavvas, MD, PhD; Joan W. Miller, MD; Nimesh (Nemo) Patel, MD; John B. Miller, MD; and Dean Eliott, MD, who gave talks on a range of topics spanning the latest advances in vitreoretinal care. Key areas addressed included age-related macular degeneration diagnosis and treatment; novel imaging techniques in diabetic retinopathy; management of ocular trauma; retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening and outcomes; pediatric retinal diseases, including sickle cell retinopathy; surgical innovations for complex retinal conditions, and drug-induced retinal complications.

Alumna Melissa Yuan, MD, and Mass Eye and Ear vitreoretinal fellows Arthur Brant, MD; Richmond Woodward, MD; Caroline Awh, MD; and Darius Bordbar, MD, shared research on ROP outcomes and screening, foveal development in prematurity, and surgical outcomes for epiretinal membranes. Ophthalmology residents Ryan Sameen Meshkin, MD, (PGY-4) and Grace Baldwin, MD, (PGY-3) presented on retinal detachment repair and epiretinal membrane surgical techniques. Research fellow Yashar Adibnia, MD, presented on fundus autofluorescence imaging in Coats disease.
