[Anil Chekuri, PhD](/people/anil-chekuri-phd "Anil  Chekuri, PhD"), an Instructor in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, has been selected to receive the 2026 Bert M. Glaser, MD, Award for Innovative Research in Retina at the ARVO annual meeting this spring. The award recognizes outstanding early-career investigators for excellence in research and innovation.

Dr. Chekuri's research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of AMD and inherited retinal degeneration, with the goal of developing novel therapeutic targets. Notably, he led the development of the first targeted therapy for optic neuropathy associated with familial dysautonomia, work he continues to advance with support from an NIH R01 grant.
