# 2026 AUPO Annual Meeting March 10, 2026 ![Harvard Ophthalmology at AUPO 2026](/sites/g/files/omnuum9886/files/styles/hwp_1_1__960x960_scale/public/2026-03/AUPO%202026%20Updated.png?itok=UB73qGhy) Harvard Ophthalmology was well represented at last month’s annual meeting of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) in San Diego, with numerous faculty, trainees, and staff participating. [Jennifer Lindsey, MD, MBA](/people/jennifer-lindsey-md "Jennifer Lindsey, MD, MBA"), Vice Chair for Education at Harvard Ophthalmology, served as a program director and received the American Academy of Ophthalmology/AUPO Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education, honoring her outstanding leadership and commitment to resident education. [Eric Pierce, MD, PhD](/ericpierce "Eric A. Pierce, MD, PhD"), the William F. Chatlos Professor of Ophthalmology at HMS, was also honored, receiving the Research to Prevent Blindness David F. Weeks Award for his pioneering work in inherited retinal disease research and the advancement of genetic therapies that are transforming patient care. [Patricia D’Amore, PhD, MBA](/patriciadamore "Patricia A. D'Amore, PhD, MBA"), the Charles L. Schepens Professor of Ophthalmology at HMS; [Ankoor Shah, MD, PhD](/ankoorshah "Ankoor S. Shah, MD, PhD"), Director of Ophthalmic Medical Student Education at HMS; and [Clifford Kim, MD](/cliffordkim "Clifford Kim, MD"), Associate Director, Ophthalmology Residency Training Program, contributed to the faculty program, sharing insights on research administration best practices, second victim support, and medical student engagement. Mass Eye and Ear's Jon Mazzone, SVP of Ophthalmology, and David Tosatti, Director of Operations, presented in the administrator program on clinical staffing models and financial operational strategy. Blake Hauser, MD, PhD, a PGY-2 resident, was a Resident & Fellow Research Forum awardee, presenting on leveraging structure-based network analysis to identify putative causative variants in inherited retinal disease.
