 

#  BCH Develops 3-D Printed Device for Strabismus Surgery Training

 Faculty from Boston Children's Hospital, including [Gena Heidary, MD, PhD](/genaheidary), [Eric Gaier, MD, PhD](/ericgaier), and [David Hunter, MD, PhD](/davidhunter), are working with their clinical trainees and the hospital's Applied Engineering team to develop a 3-D printed surgical eye simulator. Know as the "Strabismus Trainer," the device can be mass-produced at a low cost and given to individual trainees for hands-on practice of the key steps of strabismus surgery. The team is working with medical student Grace Baldwin to create teaching videos to accompany the device.
