Several faculty and alumni have been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine (NAM). Congratulations to alumnus and part-time faculty member Anthony Adamis, MD; faculty member Elizabeth Engle, MD; and alumna Julia Haller, MD. 

Established by the National Academy of Sciences, the NAM is a national resource for independent, scientifically informed analysis and recommendations on health issues. Highlights from the 2016 Harvard Ophthalmology Annual Meeting and Alumni Reunion

Attracting more than 330 alumni, faculty, and trainees, the 2016 HMS Ophthalmology Annual Meeting and Alumni Reunion offered an array of continuing medical education (CME) events as well as opportunities for networking and reconnecting with classmates. Most attendees were from the New England and Tristate areas, although a few traveled from as far as California, Singapore, and India. All nine HMS Ophthalmology affiliates were represented.

From May 1st to May 5th, more than 11,000 people attended the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2016 Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA. Eye and vision researchers from more than 75 countries presented their current research, discussed emerging technologies, and strategized ways to overcome the current challenges facing ophthalmology and vision science. Harvard Ophthalmology was well-represented at the meeting, and faculty and trainees contributed 247 posters and presentations this year.
