Several faculty from Mass. Eye and Ear, including [Joan W. Miller, MD](/joanmiller), Chief and Chair of Harvard Ophthalmology; [Jason I. Comander, MD, PhD](/jasoncomander), Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology; and [Lotfi Merabet, OD, PhD, MPH](/lotfimerabet), Associate Professor of Ophthalmolgy, participated in a special video to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB). RPB has committed hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to support vision research.

An important foundation partner to Harvard Ophthalmology for more than five decades, RPB has supported many major developments in eye research and treatment. Notably, they helped fund cutting-edge research that resulted in a new genetic test for ocular melanoma, a treatment for blindness derived from a patient's skin cells, and the identification of a compound that interrupts both mechanisms that cause diabetic retinopathy.

Congratulations to RPB on 60 years of groundbreaking ophthalmology research!
