Dr. Scott Shuldiner graduated *magna cum laude* from Tufts University with a BS in Biology, where he was a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship. He went on to earn his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He was a Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellow, and as such performed translational research on HIV-associated myocardial fibrosis at University of Cape Town School of Medicine in Cape Town, South Africa. While in South Africa, he volunteered as a predoctoral medical officer at Khayelitsha District Hospital Trauma Unit, one of the busiest trauma centers in the world. Additionally, he participated in a research internship in medical device development and innovation at the Society of Interventional Radiology, and was named co-inventor on a patent disclosure for a “smart port” for hemodialysis. He received a Society of Interventional Radiology Medical Student Research Award. As a laboratory member in the Department of Oncology at Johns Hopkins, he developed a DNA methylation based assay to non-invasively monitor prostate cancer burden, as well as treatment effectiveness, using cell-free plasma and urine specimens from patients undergoing radiation therapy.

After medical school, he completed his internship at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, followed by his first year as a resident of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. His work has been published in journals such as *Journal of Biological Chemistry*, *Journal of Human Genetics*, and *Pharmacogenetics and Genomics*. He has presented his work nationally, including giving the Main Podium Talk at the 2017 Fulbright China and East Asia Pacific Symposium hosted by the US Department of State.
