Dr. Borkar earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern
University. She graduated from medical school cum laude with Distinction in Research. Throughout residency, Dr. Borkar proved herself to be a thoughtful and skilled surgeon with a strong work ethic, astute clinical judgment, and a compassionate nature. With more than 20 publications, Dr. Borkar also displayed remarkable efforts in clinical research. She has presented her work at several regional and national meetings and has received multiple research awards, including the 2015 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Research Grant and the 2015 Harvard Ophthalmology Cornea Center of Excellence Best Resident Research Award. Additionally, she was one of two Harvard Ophthalmology residents selected to attend the 2016 Heed Residents’ Retreat and was also awarded a 2017-2018 Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship. In July 2017, Dr. Borkar will begin subspecialty training in vitreoretinal surgery at Wills Eye Hospital under the direction of Arunan Sivalingam, MD.
