Mass. Eye and Ear Vitrectomy Course

for First-year Vitreoretinal Fellows

July 21-22, 2017

The 8th Annual Vitrectomy Course will be held on Friday, July 21 to Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. This unique, comprehensive workshop will cover the theory and practice of vitreoretinal surgery. Designed exclusively for first-year retina fellows, it combines didactics, video, simulation lab, and wet lab under the direction of a group of eminent faculty in a setting with a low student-to-teacher ratio.

  • PPV/Scleral Buckling/Pneumatic Retinopexy Pearls
  • Vitrectomy for PVR/Vitrectomy for Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Traction Detachment Pearls
  • Vitrectomy for ERM/Macular Hole/ILM Peel Pearls
  • Vitrectomy for Trauma/IOFB Pearls
  • Vitrectomy for ROP/Other Pediatric Conditions
  • Vitrectomy in Uveitis Patients/Biopsies

Wet Station

  • Scleral Buckle; Suturing
  • Vitrectomy Wound Construction: 23 and 25 gauges
  • Instrumentation

Dry Station

  • Supervised practice on EYESI virtual reality simulator

For the purposes of planning your travel, the preliminary course agenda is:

  • Friday, July 21
    Noon - 6:00 pm, followed by a reception at 6:00 - 7:30 pm
  • Saturday, July 22
    7:15 am - 6:00 pm, followed by dinner at 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Space is limited! Registration is required

The Course is FREE to attend, however registration is required and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Meals during the course are provided, including a dinner at the Taj Hotel, Rooftop. A credit card is required to reserve your space for both the Course and the dinner. During registration, please indicate if you will be attending the Course only or the Course and the dinner. There is no charge for either the Course or the dinner, however, if you register for the course and do not attend, your card will be charged $50. If you register for the dinner but do not attend, you will be charged $50.
