Dr. Amy Yuan received her BS magna cum laude in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University in 2010. She subsequently earned her MD in 2016 from Yale School of Medicine. She received several awards during her academic career including the Yale College Dean’s Research Fellowship, the Alan S. Tetelman Fellowship, and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Summer Fellowship. She was also elected to both Tau Beta Pi and Phi Beta Kappa in 2009. During medical school, Dr. Yuan worked on research projects covering a range of topics in ophthalmology, including mathematical models to estimate Snellen visual acuity, patterns in surgical checklists for ophthalmology practices, and orbital fat on MRI as a risk factor for idiopathic intracranial hypertension. In addition, she created an interactive ibook for the medical student course in neurobiology. She hopes to combine her prior experience in engineering and business to explore different facets of ophthalmology, with particular interest in global health and technology.
