Interested in exploring vision from both a scientific and artistic perspective, Dr. Edith Reshef majored in Brain and Cognitive Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated with her BS in 2011. Dr. Reshef was also a well-respected collegiate athlete, who participated in MIT varsity soccer and lacrosse. Before beginning medical school, Dr. Reshef conducted clinical research at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, where she investigated novel mechanisms for optic nerve regenerations and retinal ganglion cell protection. In 2013, she presented her work at the Aegean Retina Conference. As a medical student at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Reshef received several research and public service distinctions, including the “Hot Topic” distinction in research from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). She presented her clinical findings in triamcinolone-associated maculopathy at ARVO in May of 2015. It was this project - compounded with ARVO’s cutting-edge developments and new diagnostic approaches - that further reinforced her decision to pursue ophthalmology. Dr. Reshef earned her MD in 2016.
