Kathryn Colby, MD, PhD

Dr. Colby left Harvard Ophthalmology in July 2015 to become the next Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at University of Chicago. Kathy’s HMS roots date back to 1993 when she joined the residency program. Over the last two decades, she has contributed immensely to the Department while building a first-rate clinical and surgical practice at Mass. Eye and Ear. A world-class corneal scientist, surgeon and scholar, Kathy has led research and clinical trials on Fuchs’ dystrophy and conjunctival melanoma, played a key role in the implantable miniature telescope, and improved the surgical success of our KPro efforts.
