Directions to the Starr Center
The Starr Center is located at 185 Cambridge Street, Boston MA. It is in the Charles River Plaza, Simches Research Building. Enter the glass doors marked 185 Cambridge Street (about mid-plaza) and take the elevator to the 2nd Floor.

Parking at the Seaport Hotel
The Seaport Hotel offers valet parking at the front door at One Seaport Lane. You may also self-park at the Seaport Garage. Park as close to Row G or H on any level to easily access the elevators to the hotel lobby.

The optional, causal post-conference reception will be held at Trillium Brewery, located at  50 Thompson Place, a short walk or ride from the Seaport Hotel. Pre-registration is required.

Parking at Trillium Brewery
The closest parking garage is the Farnsworth Street Garage next door, and the Necco Street and Channelside lots are a short walk away. Street parking may be available on nearby Summer St, Seaport Blvd and Congress St. For guests arriving by public transport, it is a 1 min walk from the Silver line Courthouse Station, just a stop away from South Station.

Learning Objectives

Macula 2023 is designed to update practicing ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals on the latest management of diseases of the retina and macula, with emphasis on imaging techniques and medical therapy of retinal vascular disorders and intraocular tumors. The main goal is to provide the learner with a better understanding of macular diseases, the latest clinical study data, and the best treatment options. More specifically, we have sought to focus on:

  • Wet AMD: Today and Tomorrow
  • What’s Coming for Dry AMD?
  • Innovative Approaches to Retinal Vascular Disease
  • State of the Art: Diagnosis and Treatment of Uveitis and Tumors
  • Advances in Vitreoretinal Surgery
  • Ocular Imaging: What can we see now?

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Assess the results of recent clinical trials for the treatment of wet AMD and develop a personalized treatment plans for wet AMD patients
  • Cite the recently released clinical trial results for dry AMD and assess what patients may be the best candidates for them once approved
  • Assess the safety and efficacy of different pharmacologic treatments for retinal vein occlusion and diabetic retinopathy
  • Establish algorithms for treatment and appropriate referral of uveitis and ocular tumor patients
  • Integrate new imaging modalities into the care of retina patients to more rapidly and accurately make diagnoses
  • Cite the newest surgical techniques for retinal diseases including macular holes and inherited retinal degenerations

  • Register for the conference
  • Indicate that you will attend on Friday
    • When prompted, indicate that you intend to present a case.
  • Also register to attend on Thursday and Saturday if your schedule allows 

Prepare your case or short video: 

  • Case presentation should be 5-8 minutes in length, including discussion
  • Needs to be in PPT format with a maximum of 12 slides
  • Insert a pause slide for discussion before the diagnosis is revealed

We will contact all who registered to present a case with a link to a drop box. The Deadline to submit your case to the drop box will be January 13th.
