2019 Residents

Thirty-two Harvard Ophthalmology/Mass. Eye and Ear clinical trainees graduated on Thursday, June 20th. The ceremony celebrated eight Harvard Ophthalmology residents, the AY 2018–2019 Chief Resident and one optometry resident, as well as 22 clinical fellows from Mass. Eye and Ear, Joslin Diabetes Center and Boston Children’s Hospital.
“We are very proud of what our graduates have accomplished during their time with us,” noted Harvard Ophthalmology Chair Joan W. Miller, MD. “They are bright and inquisitive, confident yet humble, kind and generous. I know they will continue to use their knowledge and talents to make a real difference in the world."
 
Several faculty and staff were also honored during the ceremony. Jane Schweitzer, MD, received the Clinical Teacher of the Year, while Silas Wang, MD, received the Surgical Teacher of the Year Award. Emergency Department nurse Irene Ischiput-Lim received the Residency Appreciation Award. John Loewenstein, MD, was recognized with the Simmons Lessell Excellence in Education Award.
