On October 27, Mass Eye and Ear hosted the annual C. Stephen and Frances Foster Lecture in Ocular Immunology, featuring Quan Dong Nguyen, MD, MSc, Professor of Ophthalmology, Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Pediatrics at Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University School of Medicine. An expert in the treatment of uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases, Dr. Nguyen lectured on the commonly made mistakes in the management of uveitis.
The C. Stephen and Frances Foster Lecture in Ocular Immunology was established in 2019 to recognize the groundbreaking work of C. Stephen Foster, MD, founder and president of Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution. Dr. Foster pioneered the use of a range of immunomodulatory drugs for the treatment of ocular inflammatory disease and advocated achieving remission of ocular inflammation by avoiding dependency on corticosteroids. He also established the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Service and the Ocular Immunology Fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear.See also: Events
