2025 Residents' Course

2025 Resident Course

On January 24, Harvard Ophthalmology hosted its Residents’ Course at Mass Eye and Ear. The day-long event focused on the topic of "Innovation in Ophthalmology," and featured special guest J. Fernando Arevalo, MD, PhD, the Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball Professor of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

Eight ophthalmology residents, with guidance from a faculty mentor, presented on a range of cases including gene therapy in age-related macular degeneration, artificial intelligence in oculoplastic surgery, and private equity in ophthalmology. Dr. Arevalo gave the Claes H. Dohlman Visiting Professor in Ophthalmology lecture, discussing A Retinal Prosthesis Update, and acted as moderator.

Thank you to our Course Directors, Chair Joan W. Miller, MD, and Chief Resident Marta Stevanovic, MD, MSc, and Resident Coordinators Ned Lu, MD, and Rachel Tandias, MD, for putting this wonderful course together.
