Reza Dana, MD, MSc, MPH, and Linda Dagi, MD, Honored with Mentoring Awards

During the Harvard Ophthalmology Faculty Retreat last month, Reza Dana, MD, MSc, MPH, the Claes H. Dohlman Professor of Ophthalmology, and Linda Dagi, MD, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, were honored with Harvard Ophthalmology Mentoring Awards.

In recognition of his career-long commitment to mentoring, Dr. Dana received the 2025 Harvard Ophthalmology Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award.

Dr. Dana has guided and supported generations of faculty throughout his career, fostering their personal and professional growth with unwavering commitment. His impactful mentorship was previously recognized in 2014 with the A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award from Harvard Medical School.

“More than a mentor, Dr. Dana is a true champion of faculty development—advocating for, elevating, and investing in those he trains,” one nominator shared. Another added, “His mentorship is transformative. He creates opportunities, amplifies voices, and ensures his mentees receive the recognition they deserve.”

Dr. Dagi received the 2025 Harvard Ophthalmology Excellence in Mentoring Award for her outstanding dedication to supporting junior faculty.

As Associate Chief of Ophthalmology at Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Dagi has built a strong reputation as a thoughtful and generous mentor, consistently offering both professional guidance and personal support. Her mentees describe her as a trusted advisor and an advocate for their development. She is also a five-time recipient of the Robert Petersen Teaching Award at Boston Children’s Hospital.

“She is always there with her invaluable advice and unwavering emotional support,” one nominator wrote. Another added, “She cares not just about you as a physician, but also as a person, and is as quick to share life wisdom pearls as well as surgical ones.”
