2025 Resident Graduation Group Shot

Congratulations to Our 2025 Clinical Trainee Graduates

Harvard Ophthalmology celebrated its clinical trainee graduation on Wednesday, June 18, with an outdoor ceremony at the Boston Museum of Science. The event honored 10 Harvard Ophthalmology residents, the AY2024–2025 Chief Resident, two optometry residents, and 30 clinical fellows from Mass Eye and Ear, Joslin Diabetes Center, and Boston Children’s Hospital.

Department Chair Joan W. Miller, MD, speaking to the graduates, shared, “My hope for you is that you commit to lifelong learning and intellectual challenge. And also that you share your knowledge, discoveries, and insights with your colleagues and the broader community. Pay it forward.”

Several faculty and staff were also honored during the ceremony. Dr. Joan Miller received the Simmons Lessell Excellence in Education Award. This award recognizes faculty who have made—and continue to make—sustained and profound contributions to education— just like Dr. Lessell. Peggy Chang, MD, received the inaugural Medical Student Teacher of the Year Award, Matthew McKay, MD, received the Clinical Teacher of the Year, and Silas Wang, MD, received the Surgical Teacher of the Year Award. Zachary Kahn, Residency Coordinator for the Harvard Ophthalmology Residency Training Program, received the Residency Appreciation Award.

2025 Graduation Faculty Honorees

Two ophthalmology trainees were recognized with awards from Harvard Ophthalmology residents. Ahmad Al Moujahed, MD, PhD, MPH, a graduating inherited retinal degenerations fellow, who previously completed a 2-year vitreoretinal fellowship, received the Fellow of the Year Award and graduating resident Enchi Chang, MD, received the Resident Peer Recognition Award.
