Nurhan Torun, MD, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, has been named to the 31st class of fellows in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program at Drexel University College of Medicine as part of its Executive Leadership in Healthcare program track. This prestigious year-long program is dedicated to developing the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in today's complex health care environment, with special attention to the unique challenges facing those in leadership positions.

Dr. Torun was one of just two nominees across Harvard schools of medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy, and is the first faculty member from the Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to be selected.

Dr. Torun also earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Service Operations in the Executive Leadership Pathway program from Harvard Medical School this past May. This program was developed for senior faculty at the associate or full professor level who demonstrate the greatest potential for assuming executive leadership positions at academic health centers within the next five years.
