PGY-2 Resident Receives Top-10 Poster Award at ASRS

Sandra Hoyek , MD, was recognized with a Top-10 Poster Award at the American Society of Retina Specialists annual meeting in August. Her poster, “Retinal imaging biomarkers and their correlation to systemic disease activity in pediatric sickle cell disease,” demonstrated that retinal thinning and reduced vessel density on OCT/OCTA were associated with more hospitalizations and strokes in children with sickle cell disease.
