Department Celebrates Lotfi Merabet, OD, PhD, MPH, Promotion to Professor

On March 11, the department celebrated Lotfi Merabet, OD, PhD, MPH, who was recently promoted to Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School.

The event, held at the Harvard Faculty Club, featured remarks from Department Chair Rishi Singh, MD; former Department Chair Joan W. Miller, MD; and faculty members Patricia D'Amore, PhD, MBA and Joseph Rizzo, MD. Colleagues, friends, and family, including Dr. Merabet's wife, Reema Hannan, and his parents, Aziz and Fatima, attended the celebration.

Dr. Merabet is a world-renowned clinician scientist who has fundamentally advanced our understanding of how the brain adapts to vision loss. His work is helping reshape education, rehabilitation, and support for visually impaired children. This pinnacle achievement reflects his exceptional contributions to our department and the field of ophthalmology.
