Alice Lorch, MD, MPH, director of the Harvard Ophthalmology residency training program, received a $30,000 grant from the Mass General Hospital Executive Committee on Community Health to fund a community-based retinal screening program for diabetic retinopathy at the MGH Chelsea Health Center.

The innovative program will use telemedicine as a means to improve screening for diabetic retinopathy and help prevent permanent vision loss in patients who may not have adequate care due to barriers, such as lack of transportation, time off from work, child care, or education. Aisha Traish,MD, will co-direct this project with Dr. Lorch.
