Dr. Frederick Jakobiec receives Merrill Reeh prize from American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Frederick Jakobiec, MD, DSc, has received the Merrill Reeh prize from the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). This award is given to an individual who has written the most important eye pathology paper on the subject of oculoplastics during the preceding academic year, as judged by the ASOPRS membership. His winning paper was entitled "Pigmentation of the Lacrimal Sac Epithelium," and was written with Anna Stagner, MD, Francis Sutula, MD, Suzanne Freitag, MD, and Michael Yoon, MD.

Dr. Jakobiec is currently Professor Emeritus of Ophthalmology and Pathology at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and Director of the Cogan Eye Pathology Laboratory at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. He is the former Chief and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Mass. Eye and Ear and HMS.
