March 10, 2021

James Chodosh, MD, MPH, the Edith Ives Cogan Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, and Lotfi Merabet, OD, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, were both nominated for the Harvard Medical School (HMS) Harold Amos Faculty Diversity Awards. These awards recognize faculty members who have demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing diversity and have helped move HMS toward being a diverse and inclusive community.

This prestigious awards program is named in honor of Harold Amos, PhD, who was the first African-American to chair a department, now the Department of Microbiology and Medical Genetics, at HMS. Dr. Amos worked tirelessly to recruit and mentor countless numbers of minority and disadvantaged students to careers in academic medicine and science.
