Inês Laíns, MD, PhD, Receives Evangelos S. Gragoudas Award
Inês Laíns, MD, PhD, a vitreoretinal surgery fellow at Mass Eye and Ear, was awarded the prestigious Evangelos S. Gragoudas Award at the 2023 Macula Society annual meeting in Miami last month for her research, “Plasma metabolomic profiles associated with progression of age-related macular degeneration.” Dr. Laíns presented her research at the event and was introduced by one of her mentors, Chair Joan W. Miller, MD.
First awarded in 2012, the Evangelos S. Gragoudas Award honors Dr. Gragoudas' contributions to the retina field and his commitment as a teacher and a mentor. The annual award is generously supported by Dr. Gragoudas and is presented to the vitreoretinal fellow who has the most highly regarded paper—either published or in press—as determined by the Awards Committee members ranking.
