Leyla Yavuz Saricay, MD, Receives David Borsook Project Grant Award
Dr. Saricay, a cornea and external disease fellow at Mass Eye and Ear, will receive a $60,000 grant, which will support her research to investigate the role and concurrence of limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) in patients with ocular pain and neurotrophic keratopathy (NK). She will conduct a retrospective confocal microscopy analysis of patients who have been diagnosed with ocular pain and NK to assess potential correlations between LSCD and persistent ocular pain in NK patients, providing insights into underlying mechanisms and possible therapeutic strategies.
The David Borsook Project, supported by The Cathedral Fund, was founded by David Borsook, MD, PhD, Professor of Anesthesiology, Emeritus, at Harvard Medical School and Founding Director of the Center for Pain and the Brain at Mass General, Mclean and Boston Children’s Hospitals.
