November 19, 2020

Mary C. Whitman, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, is the 2020 recipient of the Boston Children's Hospital Career Development Fellowship, which provides transitional funding for junior faculty members to enhance research productivity during the early stages of their academic career.

Dr. Whitman's basic research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that control development of the ocular motor nerves and regulate their axon pathfinding. Her ultimate goal is to advance our understanding of the pathophysiology of strabismus. This fellowship will support her research on early-synaptic signaling in the development of eye movement circuitry.
