Mary C. Whitman, MD, PhD, to Receive AAPOS Young Investigator Award

Mary Whitman, MD, PhDMary C. Whitman, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, is the 2024 recipient of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) Gunter K. von Noorden Young Investigator Award. Established to honor the legacy of visual neurophysiology research pioneer Gunter K. von Noorden, MD, the award is designed to recognize, encourage, and support the next generation of scientists in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. As part of the award, Dr. Whitman will give a special lecture at the 49th AAPOS Annual Meeting next April in Austin, Texas.

A highly accomplished clinician scientist in pediatric ophthalmology, Dr. Whitman studies genetics and mechanisms of strabismus and nystagmus and has made significant advances in the understanding of oculomotor development.
