Suzanne K. Freitag, MD, has been named Editor-in-Chief of Orbit, the International Journal on Orbital Disorders, Oculoplastic and Lacrimal Surgery, as of January 1, 2018.

Dr. Freitag joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School in 2011, and serves as the Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Service at Mass. Eye and Ear.   She is a founder and Co-Director of the Mass Eye and Ear Center for Thyroid Eye Disease and Orbital Surgery, which is a multi-disciplinary group focused on pioneering minimally invasive surgery and novel management for disorders of the orbit.

Orbit is one of two journals devoted exclusively to ophthalmic plastic surgery and orbital disease.  It was founded as the journal of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is also the official journal of the Italian and British oculoplastics societies.

“I look forward to promoting the advancement of the care of patients with orbital disease through this opportunity to influence the literature in my subspecialty field,” Dr. Freitag said.
