Edward (Ned) Lu, MD
Dr. Edward (Ned) Lu graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where he concentrated in Neurobiology with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. As an undergraduate, he performed neuroscience research investigating the role of proprioception in mediating locomotor recovery after injury in Drosophila melanogaster and earned the John E. Dowling Thesis Prize. After college, Dr. Lu was a Fulbright Scholar in Taiwan, where he was an English Teaching Assistant at an elementary school and served as a volunteer English writing instructor at a local university. He received the Fulbright Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Lu went on to earn his MD from Harvard Medical School. Under the mentorship of Harvard Ophthalmology faculty John B. Miller, MD, and Eric D. Gaier, MD, PhD, he analyzed imaging biomarkers in retinal vascular diseases using OCT-angiography and investigated novel ways to use telesurgery to enhance surgical education. Dr. Lu’s work has been published in Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Journal of VitreoRetinal Diseases, Graefe’s Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, Journal of NeuroOphthalmology, and Digital Journal of Ophthalmology. In addition, he co-founded the Harvard Retinal Imaging Lab Undergraduate Mentorship Program.
