Dr. Enchi Chang graduated magna cum laude with highest honors from Harvard University with an AB in Neurobiology and a secondary concentration in Global Health and Health Policy. As an undergraduate, she conducted translational research at Boston Children’s Hospital and completed a thesis investigating the behavior of mouse models of Rett Syndrome and CDKL5 Disorders. 

Dr. Chang earned her MD from Harvard Medical School’s (HMS) Pathways Program. During medical school, her research focused on the surgical outcomes of microinvasive glaucoma surgery, laser procedures, and glaucoma drainage device insertion. Her work has been published in journals such as Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Glaucoma, Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, Scientific Reports, Journal of Clinical Ophthalmology, and BMC Ophthalmology.

With an interest in medical education, she has served as an advisor to medical and undergraduate students and worked to redesign the preclinical curriculum at HMS to implement new content on cultural sensitivity and nutrition counseling guidelines. She also served in several leadership roles, including President of HMS’s Ophthalmology Interest Group, Director of Advocacy of HMS Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, President of HMS Chamber Music Society, Co-Director of the COVID Post-Discharge Medical Student Outreach Program, and Advisor for the Global Alliance for Medical Innovation.

An accomplished violinist, Dr. Chang combines her passions for music and healthcare. She has soloed and performed as concertmaster of multiple orchestras nationally and in over ten countries worldwide. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, she co-founded “Virtual Bedside Concerts,” a program providing one-on-one live virtual music performances for patients and staff at healthcare institutions across the United States. She also founded Longwood Chamber Players, a chamber music organization with other musicians involved in the medical field, and is a member of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Chang completed a Transitional Year Internship at Newton Wellesley Hospital as part of Harvard Ophthalmology’s four-year integrated residency program, where she was recognized for her excellence in teaching medical students on the surgical service and served on the Wellness Committee.
