Career Plans: Vitreoretinal Fellowship at Associated Retinal Consultants/Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, Michigan

Originally from Albania, Dr. Tedi Begaj was a teenager when his family immigrated to Massachusetts. He graduated cum laude with highest distinction from the University of Rochester, where he studied biomedical engineering and 0ptics. Dr. Begaj completed his medical training at the University of Massachusetts, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He was awarded a Medical Research Fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to investigate the use of viral gene therapy in retinal degenerative disease, under Constance Cepko, PhD, at Harvard Medical School. His research efforts has been published in several journals, including elife, Survey of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of Academic Ophthalmology.
