Dr. Syed completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard College, where she graduated summa cum laude. She then earned her MD at Harvard Medical School. Throughout residency, she displayed an excellent knowledge base and an exceptional bedside manner in the clinic and operating room. A skilled surgeon with sound judgment and outstanding diagnostic skills, Dr. Syed is known for being “absolutely unflappable” due to her ability to handle even the most difficult challenges calmly and methodically. With a strong interest in research, Dr. Syed has published 12 articles during residency (six as first author) in top-tier journals, including the British Journal of Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, and Cornea. She has received several awards, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Resident Excellence Award. She was also awarded a 2017-2018 Heed Fellowship. Dr. Syed will pursue a Cornea Fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL, under the direction of Anat Galor, MD.
