Several faculty from Boston Children's Hospital and Mass Eye and Ear participated in the 2023 American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) Annual Meeting in New York City. More than 20 papers and posters were presented by faculty and trainees, and 12 faculty participated in workshops on various topics, including pediatric eye trauma, managing pediatric uveitis, and advanced techniques for treating strabismus.
David G. Hunter, MD, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmolgy at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at Boston Children's Hospital, was honored with an AAPOS Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication and distinguished service to the Association. Dr. Hunter was also named the new AAPOS Vice-President-Elect.
Ankoor S. Shah, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at HMS and Director of Ophthalmic Medical Student Education at Harvard Ophthalmology, and Bharti R. Nihalani-Gangwani, MD, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, part-time, at HMS were recognized with Honor Awards for their service.
