Vivian Paraskevi Douglas, MD, DVM, will attend the Academy’s annual Mid-Year Forum in Washington, DC later this month. 

Maria Emfietzoglou, MD, a postdoctoral research fellow at Mass Eye and Ear, received a 2025 Vitreoretinal Surgery Foundation Research Award

Dennis Akrobetu, MD, a PGY-4 resident, and Ayush Parikh, MD, a PGY-3 resident, are recipients of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Foundation 2026 Resident Excellence Award. 

Harvard Ophthalmology was well represented at last month’s annual meeting of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) in San Diego.

On January 23, Harvard Ophthalmology hosted the Residents’ Course at Mass Eye and Ear, focused on degeneration and regeneration in ophthalmology. 

Sandra Hoyek , MD, was recognized with a Top-10 Poster Award at the American Society of Retina Specialists annual meeting in August. 

Six faculty members and nine trainees participated in FLORetina-ICOOR and the World Retinopathy of Prematurity Congress, held December 4-7 in Florence, Italy.

Blake Hauser, MD, PhD, was selected to participate in the 2026 Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology /Research to Prevent Blindness Resident and Fellow Research Forum at the annual meeting in February. 

Ryan (Sameen) Meshkin, MD, received the Best Paper Award and a 2025 Youth Ophthalmologists Grant at the FLORetina Conference.

Harvard Ophthalmology was well-represented at the 50th Annual Atlantic Coast Retina Club (ACRC) and Macula 2026 meeting.
